i agree Drunk Uncle calling Colin, Seth, was hilarious. didn’t get much of a crowd reaction tho.

  • Jason Lee

They actually did something very similar with the host introducing the second song still in costume and covered in blood with Kristen Wiig last year! (she also hosted the second-to-last episode of the season, strangely enough, maybe it’ll become a running gag or something?): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b1GgT07aes

Also, since James wasn’t able to give his thoughts, I’m really excited for next week’s musical guest! It’s an oddly low-key choice for a finale, since they usually seem to like to bring out the big names for finales, but St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark, formerly of The Polyphonic Spree) is a great performer and a lot of fun! I found out about her through her appearance on Colbert a couple months ago and have been a fan since. Here’s the song she performed, “Digital Witness’ (which if I had to take a guess, I’d say she performs this one on SNL too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVAxUMuhz98

I do wonder about Nasim’s status on SNL, as I had read some reports last year that the production schedule for Mulaney wouldn’t interfere with that of SNL’s, so she would be able to do both. However, it looks like Fox has increased the episode order, so I wonder if that means she will have to dedicate full-time to one or the other: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/foxs-john-mulaney-comedy-gets-701871

I’ll miss her if she leaves, because even though her characters are pretty hit or miss (for the record I love Heshy and like Shallon), I think SNL needs someone like her taking huge swings with really off-the-wall characteres that requires such commitment to physicality. If she does leave, I think Rich is right that we’ll probably see Ariana Huffington one last time on WU. (I’ll also guess that Jay Pharaoh comes on as one of his sports commentator impressions to talk about Michael Sam getting drafted)

    • OMG, what a great find! I remember this moment, but can’t remember what the sketch was. do you remember?

      • Jason Lee

I believe it had something to do with Kristen and Aidy doing acupuncture on someone.

          it was on jason sudaikus

They could have a bigger name than Andy Samberg for the Finale next week. I really think you missed a talking point by not making predictions on “Who’s doing his or her last show next week ?”. I hope it’s Kenan last show as a SNL cast member. However Rich said he thinks Nasim is leaving, was it predictions or facts ?

    Ps: Love the show !

    • ooh! another game missed! as far as people choosing to leave, I bet Nasim is the only one. what do you think?

      • Guillaume Schmitt

Hopefully Kenan but i think they will terminated a featured cast member like Noel or one of the guys. They seem to have many featured and i can see one or two not coming back.

        • I will guess that Kenan stays one more year. as for people getting cut, it could be a bloodbath but that will be for a conversation after the finale!

I actually liked this episode. The cold open was funny, and I was actually laughing a lot during the mom game show. I am on the fence about the girlfriends talk show, it is overplayed but there was some cute parts this time.
Dating skit was funny, Beach Party was a miss (the whole older guy hitting on young girls turned me off from it), and I also liked the cat sketch.

The cop thing was pretty funny. My boyfriend is actually a Chicago police officer and he thought it was a jab at how bad the police shootings and deaths have been recently here, but after you said this had been in the works for a long time I’m going to have to tell him he is wrong.

I love how Rick thinks St. Vincent is a ‘he’. That made me chuckle. It’s a woman named Annie, that is just her stage name.

The Black Keys were good for what they could do. Their live stage set up is amazing and on that tiny SNL stage with limited equipment Dan can’t really walk around, especially since he plays guitar and sings. Singers who don’t play guitar have more free range to walk around on the SNL stage.

My take: I always laugh at Keenan’s stuff–NEVER at Andy Samberg’s. Samberg is so overrated! The only funny things he does are the Nick Cage impression and the crazy legs guy (which is prop humor that anyone could do).
    More Keenan, less digital shorts!
