A thought for the conclusion of the series. Gene’s fainting spells become more frequent. After one of these episodes, he wakes up in the hospital with a police detective in the room. There’s a problem with his identity and the detective wants to dig deeper. Fast forward, Jesse Pinkman is on the stand identifying him as Saul Goodman! Cut to Jimmy/Saul/Gene sitting in a prison cell having a flashback and remembering the days when he was Saul.

I’m rethinking the Chuck is dead for sure theory. Dying by self immolation has got to be one of the most painful ways to go and Chuck doesn’t seem that brave, mental issues notwithstanding. Also, it’s a big roll of the dice to assume you’re going to die before the fire department arrives. Too many intangibles and Chuck seems more deliberate in his actions, even when deep in the throws of full-on mania. A possible outcome would be to have him attempt suicide and fail, possibly resulting in the permanent injuries you were discussing. It incites a large amount of guilt in Jimmy, Kim and Howard.

Thanks for the podcasts guys. You bring up points and ideas that I haven’t considered, complimenting and enriching the overall experience of the show.
