Listen to the podcast:

Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Kevin Mahadeo (@kevmahadeo) have only one batch of Daredevil podcasting for you today, but it’s a good one.

Today’s podcast focuses on the fourth episode of season two, called “Penny and Dime,” which shines a spotlight on Frank Castle’s past and the reason why he became the Punisher. Josh and Kevin talk about Jon Bernthal’s standout performance and ponder whether or not this is the best episode of Marvel TV yet. They also discuss the arrival of Elektra at the end of the episode, and why they’re avoiding the opening credits for the remainder of the season.

A new Daredevil podcast will drop every week day for the remainder of the season, continuing tomorrow with episode five, “Kinbaku.”

Like Kevin I’m also not a big fan of the Punisher in general but on this show it really feels like they are doing everything right with his portrayal.

So when I read up on the characters from the Punisher comics that some of these guys are based on, I found that Finn in the comics is this guy who’s missing most of his face. At first I just thought that Frank shooting him with a shotgun in the face was a little nod to this, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible that he survived. I think it would be really cool, as it would be a big surprise and the character was very good! Do all Punisher villains have messed up faces?

I don’t know of Karen having any siblings in the comics, I just know her parents appeared in this two issue arc back in the ’60s that was really weird. #56-57 if anyone is curious.

I’m totally with you regarding the spoilers in the opening credits. I also don’t have a good suggestion for how to handle it better but it really bothered me all throughout the season that you knew exactly which characters would be in any particular episode, even when it wasn’t as revealing as Elektra in this one.
