It was nice of Darrell Hammond to go to the studio just to say 5 words as Bill Clinton. Have you noticed he’s never there for the goodnights

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

I was really expecting to see Kristen Wiig or Bill Hader but I’m kind of glad then we would have The Californians

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

Rob and Rich, which cast members (if any) do you think will leave the show or get fired during the off-season

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

Rob and Rich, I’d like to hear what you have to say about the monologue. Personally, I think it went on a little too long. I would have rather seen a cameo from Seth Meyers,

    • MCBAR

that was my biggest shock- no seth!

  • Mike Bloom

How did the last sketch of the night compare to Fred’s farewell sketch back in 2013? Both of them didn’t jockey for comedy more than just have a big happy jam on stage. Though it did warm my heart to see the entire cast plus special guest stars and Carrie Brownstein to see the episode/season off.

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

Seeing Sudeikis made me realize he does still care about the show. For a while, I thought he was trying to distance himself as much as he could

    • MCBAR

it seems that bill hader or kristen wig were absent this season so maybe they are distancing themselves? wig could have shown up by melissa mccarthy and hader by amy schumer plus both in finale. will forte and abby elliot seem to really have nothing to do with the show

  • Jonathan Schwartz

So were you guys finally excited to see Willy come out at Weekend Update because you knew that there would be no Garth and Kat?

    • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

Are you a fan of Garth and Kat?

  • DT73

I have not listened to the podcast yet. I will say that I watched the beginning of the show. It went downhill fast. First sketch was terrible. I shut the TV off after hearing the first lines of the digital short. Sorry, I am not 15 years old anymore…..More comments after I listen to the recap.

    • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

      recap doesn’t start until 7:00

      • DT73

        Thank you.

        • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

          @DT73 is it on yet

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

I am glad we got to see Willie instead of Pete Davidson or Leslie Jones

    • Suzi!

Yeah Leslie is the biggest “Uh boyeee”

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

I think Samberg & Crew did a good job on the Digital Short

  • Coach

Were you guys disappointed we didn’t see all the great Jon Rudnitsky characters in his final episode?

    • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

@Coach:disqus who said it was his final episode?

      • Coach

        Just a very strong suspicion

        • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

@Coach I wouldn’t be surprised. His Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer are pretty much the same

          • Coach

The only thing of his that i remember was the Dirty Dancing Weekend Update bit

          • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

@Coach he moderated a debate as Anderson Cooper

          • MCBAR

he also was in a lot of miley cyrus’s episode and had a big role in the pirat sketch from chris hemsworth plus him and taran are paired as a couple in a bunch of sketches

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

    is anyone in the chatroom

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

    is the blab not working?

  • Josh Mabe TheRacingSource

Rob and Rich when is the recap starting

  • ames

I find it ironic that Rich complains about recurring jokes and yet he thinks making his “ohhh boyyyy” comment is in any way fresh. I would watch Garth and Kat and Willie every damn episode before I would like to hear one more oh boy.

    • I actually like Willie a fair bit too. Never understood the hate it gets on this podcast. It’s the same amount of mad libs as pretty much every update character, but Kenan sells it so well.

      • MCBAR

which recurring update guest isnt mad libs? its hard to have a charachter just on update that isnt repeating it self

  • homertownie

The SNL season really suffered from too much Trump, especially on Weekend Update. 20% of the jokes about Trump would have been plenty. Every other late night show made the same Trump jokes and SNL rarely had anything original or insightful. Plus the impersonations of Trump were mediocre.

The season was saved by Larry David as Bernie Sanders. But that added with the overdose of Trump made the show way too much politics. None of the other characters are memorable, there won’t be any commercials or movies or any spinoff from any of them. And the Weekend Update team continues to be among the weakest ever.

They do have some really great cast members, but the whole is much less than the sum of the cast. Rich and Rob have been extremely generous in their grading this season.
