Good episode. I actually kind of liked that there was no King’s Landing in it. But it was disappointing to see the end of Melisandra/Stannis on the wall. I’m loving Sansa now, but didn’t like her walking into that kennel. I like her subtle play. She’s kind of awesome now. I really hope she gets her revenge. Very cool to see Valaria. Not sure what the point of the greyscale people attacking is. Why attack? Why not just stop them? This seemed a bit ominous for Stannis’s daughter. Not feeling good for her.

Agree, we’re half way through the season and it still feels like the opening rounds of a chess game. Maybe there will be a time jump and Arya will have finished her training, Tommen will have sacked up and decided to be king instead of letting mommy run things for him, and Tyrion will be on dry land doing something more proactive than getting drunk.

Hi, can anyone recommend any other good podcasts that compare the books to the show?? I love the one Josh and Terri do, but need a fix earlier in the week.

Look up Storm of Spoilers. It’s fantastic

      • Pandies Evil Spleen

The Game of Microphones podcast has a section where they discuss the book vs. the series, too. It’s done by the same folks who do the Walking Deadcast.

    • Brendan Fitzpatrick

Storm of Spoilers or Cast of Thrones. Podcast of ice and Fire is pretty popular, but I personally got turned off to them around season 3, when they just started tearing the show to shreds, and were just overly negative all the time.

    • Matt The Golem

A Cast of Kings with David Chen and Joanna Robinson is pretty good.

It was clear Miranda was going to be important. The camera basically paused on her waaaay too long in that intro ep

  • 2 weeks in a row without the fan favorite Arya. Halfway through the season and essentially just 2 scenes of the Martell/Sands. Feels like a misstep to me. These are two story lines that needed to be hyped and spent time on early.

  • Trixie02

I’ve only read the first two books. Is the fact that Drogon is in the old capital a good sign for Dani or Tyrion?

    • StephenDrabek

It doesn’t mean anything. It just means he is roaming Essos.

      • Trixie02

Thanks. I thought it might be foreshadowing who rules in the books.

  • Trixie02

The way Josh was saying The Boltons at times reminded me of “The Waltons”. I would watch that spin-off.

Could suppressing Shireen’s greyscale have some connection to the dragon glass/obsidian on Dragon Stone? And, if that’s the case, could Dany’s dragons whip some up to stop it from spreading in Ser Jorah?

Hi guys, been listening for a long time. Great show thanks! Question…I don’t fully understand the John Snow plan of opening the wall for the wildlings. Is he including the Giants, Cannibal’s and other non-human creatures in their army? Also, I believe immigration is a federal issue. If so, shouldn’t the decision to open the wall rest with the King? North Dakota has the power to allow Canadians in to our country???

    • Matt The Golem

I think it would be more like NATO or UN peacekeepers allowing refugees to flee from a disaster area and into another country.

  • Bob Rose

Is it possible that George RR Martin’s editor Jane Johnson’s criticism of the TV show is reflective of George’s perspective too, and that is why he didn’t contribute an episode to this season? I know he explained it away by saying he was too busy working on Winds, but working on the upcoming book hasn’t put much of a crimp in his travelling schedule. Just a thought.

BTW, Josh, thanks for reading my question on Bookclub, and thanks for the new nickname too! It seems the initial “B” in “Bob” was awol when I sent that question, but the name OB makes me feel very Jedi-like! Thanks!
