Josh Wigler (@roundhoward), Rob Cesternino (@RobCesternino) and Antonio Mazzaro (@acmazzaro) take a look at SundanceTV’s new series “Hap and Leonard,” starring James Purefoy and Michael K Williams as a pair of East Texas best friends who get in over their heads on a search for a big pay day. Find out why it fills a void in the “Justified” shaped hole in Josh and Antonio’s hearts, and how it almost feels like two shows at once.

Next week’s Most Shows Recapped will focus on the “How to Get Away with Murder” finale and the premiere of a new Shondaland show, “The Catch.”

If you guys are looking for another entertaining read by Joe Lansdale, I recommend checking out Lansdale’s novella, BUBBA HO-TEP (1994). It was subsequently made into a film in 2002, starring Bruce Campbell as Elvis Presley & the late, great, Ossie Davis as John F. Kennedy. The two have to join forces and battle an Ancient Egyptian Mummy feeding off the souls of old people who are residents at a Retirement Home. A hilarious romp of a film, that is thoroughly entertaining on many genre-bending levels from start to finish. Highly recommend checking it out when you get the chance to fellas!.

Meant to mention that on the pod — another example of insane genre-bending.

Have you guys checked out any of the other Sundance shows?

Both Rectify and Top Of The Lake are really very good.

Another Sundance series I really dig is THE RETURNED. Not the crappy A&E version Carlton Cuse churned out and was promptly cancelled.

Watched half the first season of Rectify before getting side-tracked. I’d love to get back into it some day. Top of the Lake was great; one of the most gorgeously shot shows in recent memory.
