Do you think that Bernie Sanders was kinda asleep ath the wheel when he was in the sinking boat sketch?

    • MCBAR

He seemed pretty ok during that sketch and I don’t think he brought down the energy

    • For a non-actor, he did fine. He didn’t bring any big charisma or energy, but I liked that he was very game.

  • Craig

So Akiva is going to be involved in this podcast right? I mean it’s the perfect opportunity for podcast synergy.

When Watching this episode live it seemed to have every element of a great snl episode: strong cold open, quick monologue, great usage of the host, surprising cameos, update jokes were great, update guests were new(maybe the only oh boys of the night) and the only repeat sketch was still pretty good. Glad they put Bernie sanders on the other sketch as opposed to the bern your enthusiasm-that would have been too obvious and liked the new take on the totinos sketch. Love to hear your opinion rob and rich

    • ah-gree!

      • MCBAR

Side points, the cards with Larry David kept cracking me up- him talking to the skull, is shasheer still on the show, and did it help weekend update that they closed on the cameos?

  • Mike Bloom

Mario Lanza has recently theorized that Vanessa Bayer is the stealth MVP of this cast, specifically when it comes to the pre-taped bits. What do you guys think about that? Her absolutely slaying it in the Totino’s sketch for the second year in a row made me think of this.

    • Totally agree. I made the same point after her performance as the High School bully with Ronda Rousey. (Is Mario Lanza listening to our show???)

      • Mike Bloom

I’m not sure if he listens, but you two are very much on the same page! If you’re interested, he recently did a ranking of his top 115 sketches from 2000-2015 that I think you would definitely appreciate:

        • Charles Bikle

X-Files episodes usually start with someting inexplicable happening.

    • MCBAR

It did take a drop too long to get to the payoff but it was well worth it. It was also quick enough to not leave you wondering why they were like that,( unless it’s an x files thing, I don’t know that show

  • Kolohe

President Sanders may have to return to the old days of submitting the State of the Union as a written report if he has problem reading words scrolling in front of them and saying them on TV.

  • AndyMcGill

What the heck was the first sketch, the “Kevin Roberts” sketch? Wikipedia doesn’t even know who Kevin Roberts is, and the whole sketch made zero sense.
    Why was that funny?

  • Suzi!

OMG Melissa McCarthy again?? She always does the same thing and it’s not my thing.
