I’d like to recommend that everyone watch Monty Python’s Life of Brian this weekend, if you haven’t seen it, or haven’t watched it in a while.

      Every Sperm is Sacred?

      I love that song.

      • Andiamo

        lol. That’s a great song.

I don’t hope this for Kevin, but I do hope for my sake that Kevin starts seeing Meg in the same way that he used to see Patti. Kevin seemed pretty devastated when Nora laughed in his face about having a baby. If, for Kevin, the GR represent the fear that attachments are no longer necessary or possible, Meg is an even more pernicious form of that philosophy than Patti was.

    • TrentC

I’m tellin ya, Meg hit the cellar doors in the floor and rode out the drone strike… smiling that evil smile of hers. And yes I’d like to rub animal crackers all over her belly. ( it was from the podcast!! )

      • Andiamo

That was a pretty serious crater after the explosion……so my money is on dead Meg. I’ll bet you. Can’t you see her torturing him in the best possible way? They were talking about Grace maybe being a wedge between Nora and Kevin, but Meg would be the best wedge ever.

Was that from the podcast? Hmm that’s not exactly how I remembered it 😉

        • TrentC

Okay you’re on. I say there was a timing difference in the scenes and Meg somehow got away from the Welcome Center.

And yes if ghostMeg starts tormenting Kevin junior it would be delicious. I think they’ve already played that card and done it well, so we won’t see it again.

  • interestingly, I enjoyed this episode more than the first 2 of this season. Unlike other episodes, it has more of a standalone quality. I have been keep going back to watching international assassin anytime I craved it. Are their similarities between the two? Frankly speaking, I don’t know. They are very different, yet they are emotionally abundant. I really really love the smile of Kevin senior at the moment when he spotted the aboriginal ceremony. I love the music played when Kevin senior encountered the people with the ark. I immediately start to feel like crying whenever I listen to young Kevin junior talking to his dad. Such short moments are just beautiful and precious to me.

    • Andiamo

I agree, they really do a beautiful job of writing each of the characters. The more we learn about their life experiences, the more their behavior after the Departure makes sense, no matter how crazy it may seem at first. I think the information we got in this episode about the loss of their wife/mother and the tapes helps makes sense of Kevin Sr’s perspective, but also about what Kevin Jr experienced in International Assassin. I wrote a longer comment about the specific connections I noticed between the two in the recap episode comment section, if you’re interested.

Reading it over now, I realized my post started off a bit off-topic here, and then derailed into totally off-topic. It’s mostly directed at just the PSR crew here:

Just wanted to thank you for getting me interested in this show, it’s been just brilliant stuff. I caught up with this show this week, watching episodes in evenings and listening your recaps for them next day at work. And it was all the high praise from the other PSR/RHAP shows that convinced me to give it a try. I used to be a TV nerd of most insane proportions, but last 5 or so years, after some life changes, I’ve been totally out of loop from that world. With barely dozen shows I might still follow and super hesitant to pick up anything new, and not even knowing what’s going on if it’s anything new or I don’t have past connection with. So I heard about this show from you guys and finally gave it a try this week, totally worth it.

Btw I’m one of those people who doesn’t have too much time to actually watch different shows all the time any more, but I average like 10h of podcasts per day at work. And me looking for stuff to listen too all the time, I think by now it has flipped some of the priorities around in my head in terms of what shows I watch. As in I’m much more inclined to watch a show if some of my more favorite podcasters also podcast about it. And you guys sure give me a good return rate for the investment with your great Leftovers recap shows and fun I’ve had listening to them. I guess prime example of investment rates would be Rob with Survivor, I can watch a 42 minute episode and then later get 5-7h of podcasts out of it lol. Or maybe even more effective, The Walking Dead. I, like many, finally gave up on that show few years ago. But I’ve still listened all of your coverage on it, and occasionally I still fast-forward through an episode if I feel like I’m losing context on some inside jokes/impressions/etc on the podcast. And I often laugh my ass off during those recaps.

I guess I just wanted to say good job guys and thanks for getting me hooked on this show. I almost never comment here or give you guys any feedback, so I just wanted to tell you that it doesn’t mean that the usually silent lurker like me doesn’t appreciate and get a lot out of your work.

high-angle camera shot of Sr. laying on the ground, dying at the base of Grace’s cross, with his crutches outstretched like he was nailed to the cross — deserves more attention…. great shot…
