Rob Cesternino is away, perhaps busy on a crossover podcast episode, but Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Antonio Mazzaro (@acmazzaro) are joined by Post Show Recaps’ superhero expert Kevin Mahadeo (@kevmahadeo) to break down the premiere of The CW’s new series “Legends of Tomorrow”. The crew also discusses ABC’s “Agent Carter” and the finale of NBC’s “Heroes Reborn”.

Re: the Rip Hunter/Dr. Who thing:

When first introduced in the comics in the 50’s, Rip was your typical blonde-haired adventurer who had the typical strong-jawed hero persona and who invented his own time machine.

Over the last 10 years or so, the character had become more of a “time-strategist”, using his time machine to try and do good/protect the status quo, often being opposed/hunted by other self-appointed monitors/controllers of the time stream.

Turning the character into more of a Dr. Who analogue in terms of personality, isn’t really the kind of thing that would bother hardcore fans of DC’s silver age Rip Hunter (the guy really was a blank slate).

If anything, the character sounds closer to John Constantine (“Rip Constantine, Time-Blazer”)

Legends Of Tomorrow is doing what Agents Of SHIELD should have been doing all along – introducing other properties from its comics universe through the show.

it’d be interesting if we see other DC properties through the show, like Enemy Ace, Sgt. Rock, Kamandi, Tommy Tomorrow or even Space Cabbie !

Is there any chance we can get a Most Shows Recapped episode of the fellas breaking down the new Syfy series, THE EXPANSE? It is an intriguing little show they got going on over there.
