Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 1 Episode 10 Recap | AKA 1000 Cuts

Listen to the podcast:

Warning! The following “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” podcast is brought to you by two guys hopped up on red pills. Proceed with caution!

Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Kevin Mahadeo (@kevmahadeo) cut into “AKA 1000 Cuts,” the tenth episode of Marvel’s new Netflix series… and they don’t like everything they see. Josh and Kevin pull on the loose threads they see dangling throughout the episode, questioning whether the many deaths of the hour are necessary for the story or are just senseless shock value, and more. They highlight what they like, too, so it’s not entirely a bash fest… shout out to Barbuto.

Check back on Monday (December 7) for another episode of the podcast, covering “AKA I’ve Got The Blues.”

I was one of those people who already binge-watched the show once it came out but still listened to your recaps every episode because I like you take on each episode.

I didn’t like this episode either. It was hard not to compare Jessica Jones to Daredevil because they’re both Marvel Netflix shows and I’d say Daredevil is still better in lots of aspects.

Without spoiling anything, I just want to say I didn’t like subplots in JJ. In my opinion, they’re poorly written. I do understand that the show needed to focus on Kilgrave, relationship between JJ and Luke Cage, and JJ herself and I guess there’s just more to DD’s story (DD has a set of villains too and not just Kingpin) than JJ but still they still could have given us more.

DD gave us some character-focused episodes so we connected to every character. That is also why I just didn’t care about some characters like Simpson, the twins and even Malcolm which disappointed me a lot. I just didn’t connect with them much just like I connected with lots of characters in DD like Foggy, Paige, also DD’s mentor (not spoiling him but he was one of my faves), and others.

It wasn’t only the sub-characters but the way they incorporated some things which gives way for a next season was very annoying to me as well. I will reserve my comment about it more once you finish all episodes.

Well, maybe I was just nitpicking and don’t get me wrong I love Jessica Jones and still would pick this than some other shows and there’s really a lot of awesomeness about this show but I guess there were just some things I can’t pass commenting about. Looking forward to the last 3 episodes. Thanks guys! :)

really been enjoying following the jessica jones podcast! i binged the show in two go’s from episode 1-9, then 10 -13. I didn’t dislike this episode as much as you guys did, maybe ur thoughts will change a little bit once you see how the next couple of episodes play out. but i do agree the whole hope thing didn’t play out in the most logical way. can’t wait to get ur thoughts on the finale. great listening brochachos!

I have to say that I had to take a wee break after this episode as it just stuck out like a sore thumb. In a painful kind of way. The set-up at the group meeting thing was painfully ill conceived and just could not get over Jessica getting taken out so easily by Robin. Anyway, headed off to Ep 11 and things are better. :) But just listened to this podcast and have to agree with you. Going to keep at it as so much right with this show.
