Listen to the Podcast

Listen to the podcast:

Sweet Christmas! It’s time to dig into Marvel’s Luke Cage, the latest Netflix series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following on the heels of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Kevin Mahadeo (@kevmahadeo) are back together talking about Netflix’s view of the Marvel pantheon, dissecting Luke Cage three episodes at a time.

In this podcast, Josh and Kevin wrap up their watch of Luke Cage, discuss the big twist that separates the season into two distinct halves, the increasing super-powered nature of the show, Luke and Claire’s growing relationship, and more.

Josh and Kevin will return for more Marvel talk after Doctor Strange drops on November 4.

Wow, were these podcasts a disappointment.

I really enjoyed the Daredevil Season II podcasts – there was enough content in each episode to justify 1 podcast episode per show episode with a 1 hour length. When I saw that there were only 3 podcast episodes for the entire season, I thought that Josh and Kevin were going to combine those types of hour-long discussions into 3 extra-long episodes – like DDs2 there was enough content to justify discussing each episode for an hour.

But no, the first 2 podcast episodes, covering 3 episodes each, were only just over 1 hour each, which was very disappointing. Josh and Kevin are knowledgeable and funny, but these episodes were rushed and skipped way too much.

Then there was this episode. Covering 7 episodes in 1 podcast episode that was barely over 1 hour was just awful. What was the point? There was so much not discussed, I don’t feel that I got anything out of this episode like I did with any of the DDs2 episodes.

I understand Josh’s explanations of how life and their schedules got in the way. But if they knew in advance that they weren’t able to give this show the coverage it deserves, the same type of coverage given to DDs2 (and JJ which I didn’t listen to), then they should have done one of two choices:
    (1) Wait until they could have done 1 podcast episode/show episode. I wouldn’t have cared if it was 1-2 weeks after the show came out – better late and adequate coverage than this.
    (2) Have two other podcasters cover the show. I don’t care that Josh and Kevin have done all the other Netflix show and they should be the only ones to cover this. If they knew they wouldn’t be able to 1 podcast episode/show episode, this should have been reassigned to other podcasters that could do it. Have Josh and Kevin do some season-long recap later, but if they couldn’t do 1 ep/ep on schedule, have someone else do it.

Again, cannot stress enough how much of a disappointment these podcasts were.
