What Happens Next? Rob & Akiva Talk Podcasting Comeback Possibilities

Rob Cesternino and Akiva Wienerkur reunite after many months away from the Seinfeld podcast to talk about the options to potentially record again in the future.

  • Personally I would love for you both to continue on the Seinfeld route by recapping Curb (or even Comedians in Cars). As you mentioned it will allow tangents about various topics and people.

At the end of the day any show between you guys would be great. I am not a big sports fan so that may be my one (power of) veto.

  • Chris

The Curb Seinfeld episodes and “that 90’s podcast” would be perfect. The curb block is small enough that hopefully you can do both. In the 90’s one, you could do a show on music videos and kill two birds with one stone.
    Thanks!

This is really cynical, but the “podcast commentating on the Seinfeld podcast” thing might have legs if you recorded it as bumpers to rerelease the Seinfeld podcast. Like when they rereleased all of the “Good Morning, Miss Bliss” episodes in syndication with bumpers of Zack Morris introducing them. The longtime fans would enjoy your reminiscences about your good times recording the podcast, and you might pick up some new listeners along the way.

You guys should do a Mets podcast. It doesn’t need to be a regular thing, but adding some humor to what should be a long rebuild would be great!! There also isn’t an established mets podcast in the market.

Not knowing Akiva’s tastes, would Arrested Development or Shameless(US) be possibilities? PSR has already covered Breaking Bad, my first and best choice.

Suggestions below may be more to Josh W’s taste:

    Battlestar Galactica re-imagined series
    Dexter
    Homeland
    Ray Donovan

Some great TV that may not incite an abundance of discussion:

    Boardwalk Empire
    Rectify
    The Americans

These are probably not podcast worthy, but good series IMO:

    Hannibal
    Banshee
    Hell on Wheels
    Vikings
    Black Sails

And finally a suggestion for a cheesy, violent, over the top gratuitous skin baring series….any and all seasons of Spartacus! Don’t let the bad CG blood effects in the first couple of episodes turn you off, it becomes pure art by the end of the first season (holding left sarcasm button down).

If you do the music videos, the video for “trying not to love you” by Nickelback has Jason Alexander in it. I think that should be your first one for the Seinfeld tie in. However my suggestion is to do a Rick and Morty podcast. Not many episodes and it’s very popular.

Rick & Morty podcast is a great idea! I 2nd the motion! Had only vaguely heard of it before the news story about angry, belligerent fans being pissed when McDonald’s ran out of Szecheuan (Think how spelled; spell check on phone no help; know it’s in China & spicy) sauce. Decided to check it out. One of my favorite TV comedies and/or sitcoms ever! Right up there with Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Duckman, Simpson’s, Futurama, Archer, & South Park. Think entire series run so far is only 30 episodes. Some are only 15 or 20 min i believe. Created by Dan Harmon of Community fame. Please do Rob!

  • PLEASE DO CURB
    PLEASE DO CURB
    PLEASE DO CURB
…and a segment of IMDbags every episode 😀

  • Brent

Listening to all these ideas… I actually wish you could do them all. But ultimately I think the Curb podcast is best because it would allow you to cover the most ground. In many ways it’s a continuation of Seinfeld’s focus on minutia, allowing you guys to wander with side conversations and personal anecdotes. The numerous guest stars would allow for an IMDbags type segment each week. And it’s probably the topic you guys would be the most expert on.

  • David Borizon

Curb please! Or the 90’s show. Or both. You two guys are so funny, specially when you go off topic.

  • Kaytee D.

I like the music video podcast idea! You could call it RHAP MVP or Total RHAP Live. I would also be into a podcast similar to this one, of you two just pitching your funniest movie/tv show/podcast/whatever ideas to each other, and you could call it the Pitcher’s Mound.

  • Clifford Faigan

Curb every half-baked idea except Curb…
