Regarding area codes…This started about a month ago in Suffolk County, NY; even though i live in Suffolk County, I must dial 631 first when calling other numbers in Suffolk!! Fun, right? (sarcasm)

Regarding Jai Alai…I used to go to Milford, Ct to bet on it. There would be many games (rounds?) one could bet on. I stopped going because the players made it so obvious they were cheating!! They rigged it for the odds. Reminds me of the rigged harness racing at the old Roosevelt Raceway on Long Island. EDIT: my opinion only

Actually Akiva, you are a bit wrong on the Yugoslavia question. Yes, Bosnia, Croatia, and Slovenia were all part of the former Yugoslavia along with Serbia, but there were also Macedonia, and later Kosovo and Montenegro.

Went and watched that Jai Alai documentary you mentioned Akiva and it was pretty interesting. They should get together with the Handball people and form a plan.

I don’t remember what year it was but there was a period where a lot of cities were replacing all shower heads in apartment buildings with low-flow shower heads in order to save money on water. And I think in some cities it was mandatory, so there was a lot of pushback from apartment renters that were forced to switch. So yes, this was a real thing.

A similar thing happened with poppy-seed. There were multiple news stories back in the 90s (?) of people testing positive for drugs because of the poppy seeds (in most of the stories I read it was poppy-seed bagels).
