AANG IN THERE | Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 1, Episode 8: “Winter Solstice, Part 2: Avatar Roku”

Zak Mohamed (@Zakmohamed32) and Jacob Redmon (@jkredmon) are joined by their first guest, Chappell (@Chappells_Show), to discuss the eighth episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Zak, Jacob, and special guest Chappell run the blockade in the eighth episode of season one, “Winter Solstice, Part 2: Avatar Roku.” They first talk about Chappell’s history with the show before breaking down the episode. Along the way, they discuss Appa’s struggles, out of shape fire sages, and fancy fire bendings locks. After the recap, they go through listener feedback which leads to stories about getting locked out, spirit guides, and Commander Zhao’s poor tactics. Finally, they do the weekly episode ranking and sort the Incredibles into bending types.

Zak and Jacob will be back for “The Waterbending Scroll” on October 13, 2020.

“Winter Solstice, Part 2: Avatar Roku” was directed by Giancarlo Volpe and written by Michael Dante DiMartino. It originally aired on April 15, 2005.

About Aang in There …

Aang in There is a spoiler-filled rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Every week, Zak and Jacob break down an episode of ATLA with the benefit of knowing the whole universe of Avatar. We also include the following segments:

·      Episode Recap – Zak and Jacob start by giving an in-depth breakdown of all the plot points and minor details from the episode.

·      Feedback – Zak and Jacob go through listener feedback and answer the questions or comments written into their official email: [email protected]

·      Episode Rankings – Zak and Jacob will create an official Aang in There ranking of every episode of ALTA, by rating them all on a scale from 0-4. Zak and Jacob will give their own scores, plus the listeners’ scores will be averaged and added as the third point. Then, the three scores will be combined to create the official podcast score for each episode!

·      Battle of the Battles – Zak and Jacob will rank the Battles similar to the episode rankings. Each battle will be ranked from 0-4 and Zak, Jacob, and the listener’s scores will be averaged together to get the official Battle Rankings.
